UC Davis has installed its first “Wellness to Go” vending machine on campus in the Activities and Recreation Center. The vending machine dispenses health and wellness items such as tampons, allergy pills, aspirin, condoms, and various other items. The most controversial item that the vending machine dispenses is the morning-after pill, which is an emergency contraceptive. The morning-after pill sells for $30 and now UC Davis is one of four universities that sell the pill in a vending machine. Georgia Savage, Director of Advocacy and Student Representation for the Associated Students of UC Davis, stated:

I really value the anonymity of having a vending machine. Obviously, we have health services on our campus that students can go to. But, a lot of students like the judgment-free space and don’t have to feel the pressure of interacting with people. I think that increases accessibility.

The vending machine is stocked by the student pharmacy and UC Davis stores and is accessible 18 hours every day while the Activities and Recreation Center is open.
