Legislative Republicans today called on Gov. Jerry Brown to repeal California’s fire-prevention fee on rural structures and return what’s been collected, citing revelations about a separate Cal Fire pot of money. Several newspapers reported on $3.66 million in Cal Fire settlement money that had been socked away with the California District Attorneys Association instead of reported to state budget writers. The money had been used to buy digital cameras and GPS units and to put on a Pismo Beach conference.
