We are tired. Tired of the polished political speeches that do nothing but skirt around the truth. Tired of hearing our leaders make sweeping statements about the state of our nation while conveniently ignoring their own role in creating the very problems they claim to care about.

In a recent interview with MSNBC’s Stephanie Ruhle, Vice President Kamala Harris claimed, “Gone is the day of everyone thinking they could actually live the American dream.” But she conveniently omitted that she has been part of this very administration for the past four years—an administration that has overseen some of the most dramatic cost increases in recent memory.

Let’s be clear: Kamala Harris and Joe Biden have been in office since January 2021. During that time, the cost of living for everyday Americans has skyrocketed. Here’s what’s happened:

  • Car insurance is up 54.9%
  • Hotels are up 49.4%
  • Gas is up 46.1%
  • Fuel oil is up 43.4%
  • Transportation is up 32%
  • Electricity is up 30.7%
  • Baby food is up 29.5%
  • Rent is up 22.5%
  • Groceries are up 21.5%
  • Airfare is up 21%

These numbers aren’t just statistics; they represent the real pain Americans are feeling at the pump, in the grocery store, and in their everyday lives.

When Harris speaks about the decline of the American Dream, she should be honest about why so many Americans are losing hope. For the last four years, she has been in the White House, part of the administration presiding over this economic turmoil.

And this isn’t just a recent phenomenon. Her party has controlled the White House for 12 of the last 16 years. If the American Dream is slipping out of reach, we must ask: What has been going right? What has been going wrong? And most importantly, what are we going to do to fix it?

The American people don’t need more empty platitudes or polished talking points. They need honesty. They need integrity. And they need elected officials willing to look them in the eye and tell them the truth: that things aren’t working, that mistakes have been made, and that real solutions are needed. It’s not enough to say that the American Dream is dying—we need to know why and what you, as a leader in this administration, will do about it.

Yes, we have a generation that no longer believes in the American Dream, but let’s not pretend that’s simply a shift in culture or attitude. It’s the direct result of policy failures, skyrocketing inflation, and a cost of living that makes it harder and harder for families to get by, let alone get ahead. It’s the product of years of political mismanagement and leadership that refuses to acknowledge the reality that millions of Americans face daily.

The American people are not naive. They see through the spin. What they want—what they deserve—is honesty, integrity, and a reality-based approach to governing. It’s time for our leaders to stop talking about the American Dream as though it’s a relic of the past and start working to make it a reality once again.
