As the polls close, we will see which one of these messages worked the best:

Vice President Kamala Harris has taken a firm stance on raising the federal minimum wage to $15 an hour, a move aimed at boosting her economic appeal with working-class voters. In an interview with NBC News, Harris confirmed her support for the wage increase, emphasizing that she would collaborate with Congress to achieve this goal.

The federal minimum wage currently stands at $7.25 an hour. Harris has highlighted the urgent need for change, particularly after former President Donald Trump avoided a direct stance on the issue during a recent campaign stop in Pennsylvania.

While campaigning at a McDonald’s, Trump responded vaguely when asked about increasing the minimum wage, acknowledging that “people work hard” but not committing to a specific figure. Harris quickly criticized his lack of clarity, stating her belief that hardworking Americans deserve a wage that allows them to support their families.

This issue has become central to Harris’s strategy as she and Trump compete to win over working-class voters in key swing states ahead of a close election. President Joe Biden has already called on Congress to approve a $15 minimum wage, and Harris has praised states that have already implemented this increase.

Beyond raising wages, Harris has also pledged to end subminimum wages, while Trump has proposed eliminating taxes on tipped income. Both candidates present economic policies designed to ease the financial burden on voters as concerns about high prices and job growth dominate the electoral conversation.
