In what can only be labeled as a shameless campaign tactic, Leticia Perez, Democratic candidate for California’s 16^th State Senate seat, is now backtracking over her decision to use the image of our Lady of Guadalupe in a campaign flier.

Many Catholics were offended that Leticia would try to mislead this Latino community and contacted the Fresno Archdiocese to complain.  The church responded with a statement saying, “The Diocese of Fresno does not participate or intervene in a political campaign on behalf of or in opposition to any candidate.”

Besides trying to mix politics and religion and trying to deceive Latino voters into believing she has the endorsement of the church, Leticia isn’t even a Catholic.

With less than a week to go in this campaign, Leticia has begun her apology tour.
