On Saturday, July 13, at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, chaos erupted as gunshots interrupted former President Donald Trump’s speech. As shots rang out, and Trump fell to the ground, bleeding from his ear. Secret Service agents quickly surrounded him.
Trump rose from the ground and put his fist up and shouted, fight, fight, fight.
The nation and world were in shock.
Trump, injured by a bullet that grazed his ear, was quickly taken to safety. One rally attendee died, and two others were critically injured.
The suspected shooter, Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, from Bethel Park, was killed. He had attacked from a nearby roof with an AR-15-style rifle.
The Republican National Committee was scheduled the following week and it seemed like Trump was riding into a second term.
Then after five decades in political office, President Joe Biden announced on Sunday July 21, that he would end his presidential re-election campaign and endorsed VP Kamala Harris.
