In October 2024, a lawsuit was filed against the Crown Reef Beach Resort and Waterpark in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, by Anthony and Veronica Neal, along with Elizabeth Traylor. The plaintiffs allege that during their stay from July 15 to July 22, 2023, they discovered bed bugs in the beds and carpeting of their room, leading to bites that necessitated hospital treatment and resulted in medical expenses.

Although this filing was in October, we are bringing this to light because of the emerging bed bug stories.

The Myrtle Beach lawsuit alleges that the resort either knew or should have known about the bed bug infestation and failed to adequately inform guests or address the matter.

In early 2024, three other hotels—the Country Inn & Suites by Radisson in Murrells Inlet, the Crown Reef Resort and Waterpark, and the SpringHill Suites by Marriott in Myrtle Beach—faced similar lawsuits from guests alleging bed bug bites during their stays.

The Crown Reef Beach Resort and Waterpark has been implicated in multiple bed bug-related lawsuits over the years, suggesting a persistent problem that has yet to be fully addressed.
