Last year, California ranked the highest in the nation in terms of priciest ZIP codes for home sales for the third consecutive year. California had roughly 70 percent (82 of 117) of the priciest ZIP codes in the nation. PropertyShark, a real estate database, compiled the data and analyzed the median sales prices for all home sales, including condos and co-ops. This list just goes to show home expensive is has become to buy a home in California. Eliza Theiss, the author of the report for PropertyShark, stated the following regarding the results of the report,
In California and the rest of the country, prices in these markets are going up. California is running things when it comes to expensive real estate.
Which ZIP code was the priciest in the nation? That honor goes to the 94027 ZIP code (Atherton, California), which had a median sales price of $6.7 million. The 11962 ZIP code (Sagaponack, New York) came in second on the list with a median sales price of $5.5 million and the 02199 ZIP code (Boston, Massachusetts) came in third with a median sales price of $4.772 million. Here are the five other ZIP codes in California that made the top 10: Santa Monica’s 90402 ZIP code ($3.762 million), Palo Alto’s 94301 ZIP code ($3.755 million), Los Altos’ 94022 ZIP code ($3.5 million), Portola Valley’s 94028 ZIP code ($3.3 million), and Los Altos’ 94024 ZIP code ($3.254 million). We will have to wait until next year to see if the list changed for 2019.
