Igloo is recalling over 1 million rolling coolers in the United States, Canada, and Mexico due to a handle defect that may cause fingertip amputations.

The recall impacts the ‘Igloo 90 Qt. Flip & Tow Rolling Coolers,’ which feature a tow handle that can unintentionally pinch users’ fingertips, creating a significant risk of crushing injuries and, in some cases, amputations.

According to a recall notice issued by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Igloo has received at least 12 injury reports in the U.S., detailing incidents of fingertip amputations, bone fractures, and lacerations caused by the faulty handle mechanism.

Consumers can identify the affected coolers by their model number and description. Those in possession of a recalled unit are urged to stop using it immediately and contact Igloo for a free replacement handle.
