Israel’s Mossad recently carried out a daring operation to assassinate Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran, Iran.
This complex mission involved Mossad recruiting two members of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) to plant an explosive device in Haniyeh’s guesthouse. These operatives managed to place the device under Haniyeh’s bed just hours before the explosion.
Mossad’s careful planning included monitoring Haniyeh’s movements and infiltrating his security detail. The device, remotely detonated, was so precise that it only targeted Haniyeh’s room, killing him and his bodyguard, who was also a wanted terrorist.
After the operation, Iranian authorities were left dumbfounded, realizing that their guards had been compromised. This successful assassination highlights the lengths Mossad is willing to go to eliminate critical threats, even in the heart of hostile territory like Tehran. The operation was part of Israel’s broader strategy to dismantle Hamas leadership, particularly after the events of October 7.
