Get ready for Game 1 of the World Series tonight, which will feature the Houston Astros against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Both Houston and Los Angeles have one major thing in common, they both have a large Mexican population. The World Series will determine which city has the better team, but writer Gustavo Arellano asked the question, which city is more Mexican? Arellano, who was the former publisher and editor of Orange County’s alternative weekly OC Weekly and author of the column ¡Ask a Mexican!, states:

“As an impartial observer who has lived in the shadow of the City of Angels his entire life and has traveled to H-Town dozens of times over the years, only I can objectively compare the two cities’ Mexican bona fides on the eve of the Dodgers and Astros facing off in this year’s World Series.”

Here are the categories Arellano used to determine which city is more Mexican: Astros vs. Dodgers rosters, historical civil rights achievements, public radio hosts, alt-weekly Mexi reporters, martyred Chicano musical icon movies, adopted Mexican music legends, comedic geniuses, and food. The results were not even close with Houston winning six of the categories and Los Angeles only winning two of the categories. The only categories that Los Angeles won were the Dodgers roster and food. This is an interesting commentary on both cities,  but we shall see which team wins the World Series this year.
