Most of us know how it feels to have to make tough financial decisions at the end of the month. As an immigrant to his county our family has often had to choose between necessities, and sometimes even go without them. Regardless of economic status, we all make our way to the market frequently throughout the month to provide for ourselves, and for those who depend on us.

 Some California legislators are on the verge of passing a bill that would eliminate free plastic bags at grocery stores and charge a 10-cent minimum tax per paper bag, effectively stripping away consumer choice because they think that plastic is evil.  So, given their  environmental concerns about plastic, it seems a little odd and very hypocritical that this bill would also introduce a new type of thicker plastic bag that we cannot recycle curbside.
