It appears as if Donald Trump’s presidency win has opened the door for more public figures to come out and express a willingness to run for President of the United States. Whether joking or being serious, Kanye West threw his name into the 2020 Presidential race last year and it seems as if he is not the only recognizable person that has wondered about running as well. It seems as if famed talk show host Oprah Winfrey has thought about running for president as she views the presidency as a position that is not as hard to obtain as she once thought. Oprah told Bloomberg’s David Rubenstein about being president:
I actually never thought that… that was… I never considered the question even a possibility, I just thought that Oh… Oh…, and I did used to think that you needed to known so much more than… you needed to know.
Another name floating around for the 2020 Presidential Election is chairman and CEO of the Walt Disney Company Bob Iger. With his contract set to expire in 2018, Iger’s friends have been trying to sway him into placing his bid for the 2020 Presidential Election. Iger would need to find a person to relieve him of his duties with Disney, but it appears as though he is at the very least entertaining the thought of running in 2020. Iger was quoted saying:
a lot of people — a lot — have urged me to seek political office.
Both Winfrey and Iger have plenty of friends that would undoubtedly help them out should either decide to run in 2020. This is by far not the first time that someone in the media industry has given civil service a try. After all, one of the most highly regarded former presidents was once a successful film star before eventually becoming the 40th President of the United States. If Donald Trump has taught us anything about politics, it’s that anything is possible with the right team guiding you.
