After a disastrous showing in Indiana, Texas Senator Ted Cruz has ended his race for the Republican nomination.
Here is what Cruz had to say:
“From the beginning I’ve said that I would continue on as long as there was a viable path to victory,” Cruz said, with his wife Heidi by his side. “Tonight I’m sorry to say it appears that path has been foreclosed.”
“With a heavy heart but with boundless optimism for the long-term future of our nation, we are suspending our campaign.”
Within the hour after Indiana polls closed, Trump had a commanding 20-point lead over Cruz.
Donald Trump ended up thumping Cruz in Indiana, winning his seventh straight state and moving within 200 delegates to capture the Republican presidential nomination.
