The Public Policy Institute of California released a poll last week and it turns out that Californian’s may favor at least one of President Trump’s planned policies. The policy that Californian’s may favor is one of President Trump’s planned education reform policies and it is actually favored by over half of the people that were polled. Taxpayer-funded vouchers is one of President Trump’s planned policies and about 60 percent of adults and 66 percent of public school parents claimed that they favored vouchers. More specifically, the people polled were in favor of vouchers that parents can use to send their children to any public, private, or parochial school of their choosing.
However, past attempts to legalize vouchers in California have failed. The Los Angeles Times reports:
A 2000 measure to legalize vouchers in California was rejected by 71% of voters. Each side spent more than $30 million in the campaign. California voters also rejected a voucher proposal in 1993.
We will have to wait and see if another attempt is made to legalize school vouchers in California and based in the poll, it just might pass.
